HOW TO KEEP HOPE ALIVE AND SAVE A LIFE
Be The Match
bethematch.org
Be The Match is the national marrow registry connecting patients in
need of marrow and/or blood stem cell transplants with people willing
to donate healthy blood-forming cells. 10,000 patients search the
registry each day and the need is expected to grow. Be the match!
Your bone marrow type is not your blood type. The marrow registry
testing reflects a unique tissue type at the genetic level. Most matches
are found within a patient’s ethnic group. YOU could be someone’s only
match simply because of the way you were born.
Signing on to is easy:
Get educated about what it means to be a marrow or blood stem
cell donor.
Ask a Team Trevor member or go to bethematch.org.
Get swabbed.
Complete the form, take a quick swab of the inside
of the check, and make a good faith commitment to donate if called
in the future as a potential match for a patient.
Update your contact information on a regular basis so you can be
contacted if you are THE match!
Order a swab kit on-line or sign up at local marrow registry drives.
Check with your local blood center or visit www.BeTheMatch.org
for local opportunities to register. Get a cheek swab to see if you are a match for someone through the National Marrow Donor Program.
